Welcome to the Solid Waste Management Coordinating Board web site. Since 1990, we have worked to increase the efficiency and environmental effectiveness of the Twin City metro region's solid waste management system.

Campaign Tool Kits

Household Hazardous Waste Tool Kit

The SWMCB Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) tool kit provides resources to county and municipal staff and other partner organizations to educate and encourage consumers to "do the right thing" with HHW.

Compostable Bag Tool Kit

Beginning January 1, 2010 most metro-area residents will be affected by a new requirement to place all yard waste and organics in compostable bags for curbside pick-up. This toolkit includes information, FAQs, and images for partner to use in their coverage on the upcoming compostable bag requirements for metro area residents.

Rethink Recycling Campaign Tool Kit

The Rethink Recycling (formerly Green Guardian) campaign was launched in 2003 to help citizens living in the six-county Twin Cities metro area understand the urgent need to make environmentally-responsible purchasing and disposal decisions in their daily lives. By giving citizens the information needed to make these decisions, we can reverse the ever-growing waste stream and protect the environmental health of the six-county Twin Cities metro area.

Reinvigorating Residential Recycling Tool Kit

Thank you for your interest in the Reinvigorating Residential Recycling campaign tool kit. Participation by county and municipal recycling staff, recycling service providers and other organizations is the key to the success of this campaign. By working together and being consistent with our messages we will be able to break through the communications clutter.

Electronics Recycling Campaign

The SWMCB Electronics Recycling Campaign provides technical and communications resources to county and municipal staff, electronics recyclers and collectors, and other organizations that will advance the successful implementation of e-waste legislation in Minnesota and encourage consumers to recycle electronics.
